Our aim.....

Welcome all Ladies to the Biking Belles - Chichester and District Ladies Cycling Club (TM). Formed on August 21, 2010.

Biking Belles: developing the wellbeing, fitness and confidence in ourselves. For women by women.

We meet every weekend and the rides vary in degrees of difficulty and details of the rides are posted well in advance here on the Blog. We always stop halfway for that important cuppa and a slice of cake!

To enjoy our rides you should be fit enough to cycle at least 20 miles. For the timebeing we are referring all Novice / Starter rides to the CDC website. The dates of their rides are noted on this Blog, on the Starter page.

It's been a very exciting first couple of years and we have fulfilled our original aim to introduce more ladies to cycling, improve our fitness and to make new friends.....and to work towards and achieve those once impossible goals.

The BBs have grown and has become an exciting Club to be involved with, in 2012 we formed the Charity Belles fundraising section, raising over £2,000 during our first year. We are proud to have as our patron the Countess of March and Kinrara.

Social Belles meet once a month for a pub supper. An ideal opportunity for anyone interested in joining the BBs to come along and meet us all. It's also a chance for existing BBs to discuss future ideas and plans.

We welcome new members and I hope you enjoy being part of the BB's and that we form a long and happy cycling friendship!

Welcome to the home of Biking Belles - Chichester and District Ladies Cycling Club.

Saturday, October 23 2010
Despite the very heavy rain the night before we woke up to a lovely sunny autumn day. Isabelle joined us again - it was her second time cycling and has improved leaps and bounds - well done to her.

Tangmere Aviation Museum

We met on the Tangmere Airfield and cycled along the Airfield perimeter track towards Oving and Colworth and looped back towards Tangmere finishing around 11.30am.

We had a great ride to Rowlands Castle on Saturday, it was a lovely sunny autumn day yet a little bit windy in places.

A very warm welcome to the new members who turned up: Avryl, Jill, Ellie, Angela and Sheila. Ellie and Angela are preparing for the 400k Kenya - Breast Cancer sponsored ride next year. We wish them the very best of luck - anyone interested in the details or sponsoring them please email me and I will forward your email onto Ellie and Angela.

We met at 10am in Lavant and it took us approx one hour and 10  mins to reach the cafe in Rowlands Castle for a well earned cup of tea!

Country lanes we cycled along towards Rowlands Castle

A well earned break at the Village Cafe, which seemed to cater solely for the cyclist!

A new friend  guarding our bikes!

We went home a different route via Westbourne which was along quiet, pretty country lanes. We all stopped to admire and to listen to the local donkey making us feel welcome as we arrived in Westbourne!

As we approached Chichester it was time for Jill  (in yellow jacket below) to call her Mum to ask her to put the oven on to warm up her quiche lunch!.....

Approximate distance was: 30 miles in total. Hope to see you all again soon!

New members; Isabelle, Sally and Hilary took part in our first Starter Ride, which I think they'll all agree was very useful. We met on the Tangmere Airfield, cycled along the perimeter track and headed towards Colworth along the quiet country lanes, looping back towards Tangmere via Aldingbourne. Total distance was approx: 8 miles. Then back to my place for tea and sandwiches!

The next Starter Ride is on Saturday October 23 - 10am meet on the Tangmere Airfield again. If you fancy joining us please email me or call me on my mobile: 07824 605317.

Saturday was a beautiful sunny, crisp morning and we had a lovely ride through Goodwood down to East Dean and then cycled along to Singleton where we had coffee and cakes at the lovely Cafe close to The Partridge Inn.

We then joined the Centurion Way and cycled towards Lavant and back to Goodwood by 12.30pm.

The Chichester Observer gave us a great mention in last Thursdays' paper and we have since been joined by 8 new members - a great result and all are most welcome and look forward to meeting you all soon!

We welcomed Jill as a new member out on the ride on Saturday and we hope to see her again very soon.

The ride was hilly in places and the approx distance was: 22 miles

Saturday, August 21 2010

Well done to all the ladies who braved the weather to make the inaugural ride of Biking Belles on Saturday, August 21!

I woke up on Saturday to see grey clouds, quite heavy drizzly rain and a fair wind blowing and thought no one will be out cycling today - it would just be me and myself, but no....Jan, Julie, Karen and Elise where there also!

We had a great day - and even the weather improved. Here are some photos of the morning...

From left to right - Jan, Julie, Karen, Elise and Val. .......we were all a little bit wet!

Bosham

Looked like the Biking Boys approaching!

A lovely dog wanting his mistress to come into the water to play ball with him!

It was a good ride  - lovely quiet lanes all around Bosham, I think we saw 4 cars during the whole morning.

Jan outside the cafe

Bosham church in the distance.

We arrived back at the starting point in Westgate at noon and stopped to have our sandwiches and as I had 'made' some cupcakes we finished the morning on a sweet note!

Approx distance was: 15 miles on fairly level ground.

I think the ladies will agree, we had a great mornings ride and I had the chance to meet some lovely ladies..... I hope to see you all again soon!

Next ride will be on September 25 - we're meeting outside the Goodwood Hotel.

If you're planning on joining us please contact us beforehand so we can organise the ride accordingly.
